Table Etiqutte

Table etiquette is an important part of game play. It enables the hands to flow smoothly and helps avoid mistakes and confusion, it also makes playing the game more enjoyable
Below are some basic guidlines regarding table etiquette but to be honest it’s all common sense.
The majority of the items below are also covered in the membership rules

1. Always try an arrive at the venue on time
2. Please do not place personal items on the table top including drinks
3. Please mind your language! We all swear from time to time but certain words should never be heard
4. Always keep yours cards in view on the table top and away from the burnt and folded cards
5. When shuffling please keep the cards above the table in view
6. Always keep your chips in view of all players
7. When placing a bet, call, raise or all in please state clearly what you are doing to avoid any mistakes. This means no string bets
8. Always place the chips you are betting gently on the tabel across the line in front of you, Never throw your chips into play as they could get mixed up with other chips. When a round of betting has been completed and dealer states “Pot Good” please move you chips gently in the centre. DO NOT leave the chips you have placed over the line when “Pots Good”
9. If a player has paid to see your cards (called) you must show your cards as the other player has paid to see them and its considered impolite not to show them
10. DO NOT look through the folded, Burnt or undealt cards at any time
11. If you fold a hand please state “FOLD” and place your cards over the line on the table where the dealer can move them to the folded pile
12. At the end of the hand it is always good practice to make sure everone understands why the winning hand has won, especially if there are novice players at the table. It only takes a few seconds and it will ensure fair play and avoid any confusion
13. if a player busts out of a game it is essential that the player leaves the table to avoid confusion when the dealer next deals the cards
14. If players who have busted out of the game wish to watch the games continue please stand at least two metres away from the players as some players may get distracted by someone standing behind them
15 Most importantly………….HAVE FUN!

Basic table etiquette is common sense and politness. If all players play with the correct table etiquette more fun will be had as game play runs more smoothly!

12. Players arriving late may play only if they have called ahead to sign in, their blinds and hands must be pit in and folded until they arrive. If a late player has still not arrived at 1st chip up of the game, their chips will be removed from play and they will be signed out first on the sheet ie: last in the game they will be expected to pay for the game
13. “Chipping up” will occur when the blinds suggest it is appropiate, The amounts involved are dependant on the game type andchip values being played. Any other form of colouring up chips will not be included the rounding up method
14. To start a game, the dealer will be automatically choosen by the computer. The person seated in position one is the dealer
15. The dealer will then rotate to the left in a clockwise direction at the end of each hand
16. The two players to the left of the dealer must place their respective blinds before cards are dealt and are obligated to place the blind bet
17. If the player in the small blind is eliminated then the button moves to an empty position and the person behind the behind deals for the missing player. The other players post blinds as usual. If the player in the big blind is eliminated, the small blind position is dead and only the big blind is placed. The hand following this hand will see the blinds return to normal
18. “Betting” The minimum bet must be equal the big blind unless the person betting cannot afford this bet and then will call “All In”
19. “Raising Bets” When raising a bet the amount of the raise must equal the previous bet and then what ever the rasie amount the player wishes which begins from the smallest calue of chip in play.
20. At some point during game play as players are eliminated tables will have to be reassigned. When tables and seating is reassigned the players must move to the new table and assigned seat number. Players that are placed in the blind position may choose wheather to play the blinds or not. If a player decides not to play the blinds they must wait until the dealer button has passed them before they start play
21. Any player missing (ie WC Break) they must be dealt in and their blinds, if due, must be paid and when it is the turn of the missing player to act their hands must be folded and placed in the folded pile by the dealer or a player nominated by the dealer.
22. The “Burn” cards and “Folded” cards MUST be kept seperate until the game has finished
23. If a players cards accidently touch the folded or burnt pile during a hand those cards MUST be folded into the Folded pile and the player concerned losses all rights to that hand. Cards must be gentle placed in the centre of the table if folding. Chip/Card protectors are recommended to prevent confusion
24. During a hand the dealer is the ONLY person allowed to touch the Folded card pile, at the end of the hand the dealer must collect all the cards in and pass it to the next dealer
25. Players MUST verbally announce their betting action
26. If a player makes a bet they cannot change their mind at all, even if its to place more chips in. See table etiquette
27. If a player lacks sufficient chips for a blind or a forced bet, the player is entitled to get action on whatever amount of chips the player has. In this situation a side pot could occur for players with remaining chips from other players involved in the hand. The dealer should look after the chip piles and amounts
28. When a player or players are “All in” and no more betting can be made, all cards in play must be turned face up for the rest of the hand
29. In order for a player that has been called to claim a pot, the winner must show both hole cards to all the players in the hand
30. If a player has called a bet to see another players hand the player concerned MUST show their hand, these cards must be shown quickly DO NOT slow roll and this includes both cards..See table etiquette
31. In the event of a “Split Pot” occuring the chips must e equally shared, If a chip is left over it must go to the first player in the hand to the dealers left.
32. When a player loses all their chips”BUST OUT” they have been eliminated from the game and must leave the table immediatly to avoid confusion
33. When a player Busts out they must inform the tournament director, referee or computer operator immediatly so you can be signed out in the correct position. The busting out player must also sign the sign out sheet in the correct position. Failure to do this will result in your name being placed at the bottom of the sheet and therefore loosing valuable points, winnings and prizes
34. All games must be played until only one player is remaining and has gained all the chips in play
35. When the amount of players reaches eight, the game play will stop for a short moment to arrange reassigningseat positions for a “Top Table”
36. The “Top Table” may have an assigned dealer allowing final players to concentrate on the game if a nominated dealer is available. If no dealer is available the game will carry on as usual and the players will deal for themselves
37. During gameplay if two or more players are busted out in the same hand the player with the most chips going into the hand will be given a higher finishing position, working downwards to the player with the least amount of chips
38. At all times during game play, all the players chips must be in full view of all the other players with only exception of a player moving after being reassigned to a different seating position

42. Players must not look through the folded, burnt or undealt cards even when a hand is finished. Once the table is happy with the result of a hand, all cards must be collected together, Under no circumstances should further cards be dealt to see a possible outcome of a hand (Even for a Royal Flush)
43. During a hand players must refrain from discussing possible hands available/being played as this can put off players involved with the hand, this also includes dealers and especially players who have folded.
44. No player should throw there chips into play, they must be placed carefully and politely then carefully moved to the centre of the tablewhen the dealer has stated that the “Pots Good” See table Etiquette
45. If a player throws in their chips and they touch another players pot those chips will automatically become the other players chips, now known as “Automatic ownership rule” WITHOUT DISPUTE
46. During a hand the dealer is the only person that is allowed to touch the chips in the centre of the table. If a player requires change they as a person sitting next to them first before asking the dealer for change from the table centre pile of chips
47.All players that have been “Busted Out” and wish to watch the games being played MUST stand at least two metres from the tabe and not interfere with game play
